IPNE Plans TV Programby Charlotte Pierce It’ll be “Lights, Camera, Interaction!” on June 11 as IPNE members are invited to the Arlington Community Media studio to help brainstorm and plan a proposed TV show to highlight New England’s rich variety of independently published books. The working title of this show is “A New Leaf,” though other suggestions are welcome. At the meeting, IPNE member and ACMI board member Charlotte Pierce and ACMI general manager Jeff Munro will lead a discussion on the exciting process of bringing a TV series to community media. Joining the production meeting will be executive director Steve Fischer of the New England Independent Booksellers Association (NEIBA); Steve will also be available for a networking session after the production meeting to debrief about the recent IBPA and BEA conferences in New York, and other topics of interest to IPNE members. Volunteer crew members will receive free training on state-of-the-art HD digital equipment and may bring the finished shows to their own communities. ACMI will provide studio facilities, equipment, and ongoing training and support for the production. (For more on how community media works, please visit the website or call the ACMI studio at 781-777-1115; or contact your own local community media studio.) The meeting will be open to IPNE members only; please RSVP via email to charlotte@piercepress.com, or call 781-258-9608 by June 8. Space is limited, so please reserve early. You may join IPNE prior to attending. And, CUT! That’s a wrap! Lyn Toomey Named Executive DirectorIPNE is going through big changes. One of our biggest steps forward is to contract with a part-time executive director. Lyn Toomey, of Londonderry, NH. While we take great pride in the IPNE's many successes over the years as an organization run strictly by volunteers, with Lyn's help we can do even more to move to the next level. If you'd like to contact her, she can be reached at executivedirector@ipne.org. This new position is made possible by our affiliation with Independent Book Publishers Association, which has generously provided us with a $10,000 matching grant over a two-year period. It will be our responsibility to take over full funding after that. IPNE Now Has Two E-Mail Lists1. The "IPNE Announce" List All IPNE members should join this list, Members@IPNE.org,
as it is our primary means of announcing events and asking for your
input. We promise that this list will not clutter your "in"
box with lots of unnecessary postings. To join, use the form below:
